Warning: This article contains spoilers for Sing 2.

Featuring tracks by Prince, Billie Eilish, U2, and more, the Sing 2 soundtrack is a non-stop sing-along, with every song a massive hit. Sing 2 is the sequel to 2016’s Sing which saw the main characters assemble for auditions at Mr. Moon’s theater, with a star-studded cast including Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, and Scarlett Johansson. In 2021, Sing 2 brought the gang back for another musical adventure with all the star power of the first, plus rock legend Bono’s animated debut.

Sing 2 picks up an undetermined amount of time after Sing’s conclusion with the cast performing a musical Alice in Wonderland at Buster Moon’s rebuilt New Moon Theater. A talent scout has come to the show but leaves underwhelmed, and Buster hatches a plan to take the team to the fabulous Redshore City (a spin on Las Vegas) in order to audition for the biggest name in showbiz: Mr. Jimmy Crystal. After sneaking into the auditions, Buster (voiced by True Detective’s Matthew McConaughey) lands them the gig by making a big promise: to get the reclusive rock star, Clay Calloway, to perform in the show. What ensues is a fun-filled disaster similar to the plot of Sing in which the team pulls together to accomplish their dreams.

As was the case with Sing 2’s predecessor, Sing, the Sing 2 soundtrack is a mix of hits mostly sung by the incredible Sing 2 cast with some songs featured in their original state, sung by the original artist. Also similar to Sing, some songs in the Sing 2 soundtrack are covered so impeccably that it’s hard to tell if it’s the original artist or the Sing 2 cast. Here’s every song in the Sing 2 soundtrack, who sings it, and what’s happening in Sing 2 when the song occurs.

Will Sing 3 Happen? What We Know About A Sequel

Sing 2

It’s unconfirmed whether there will be a Sing 3, but the pseudo-after-credits scene in Sing 2 illustrates that the characters still have plenty of life left in them if Illumination does decide to continue the franchise. Likewise, some of the main voice cast like Matthew McConaughey, Tori Kelly, and Scarlett Johansson, have expressed willingness and even keen interest in doing a sequel, with McConaughey hinting in an interview with CinemaBlend that he’d like his character, Buster Moon, to get a musical number of his own next time around. Illumination is no stranger to keeping a movie series going, as the Despicable Me movies and Minions spinoff projects clearly illustrate. This means that Sing 3 could very well be in the works even though no official announcements have been made. Based on the timeline of the previous film and sequel announcement, the follow-up to Sing 2 could be announced in 2023.
